  • Coastal: the County's Santa Monica Mountains LCP is certified, so the County issues coastal development permits in its coastal zone. The City of Malibu has its own LCP, certified in 2002.

How a project usually moves

In our experience, projects here usually move through a property and zoning review, planning review when a discretionary approval applies, electronic plan check submittal, one or more correction rounds, agency clearances from the referral sheet, and then Ready to Issue.

County agencies cover unincorporated areas. Each incorporated city has its own building department and timelines.
